Annual home heating costs in Halifax?

I'm just wondering what the average home heating costs are like in Halifax and area?I see that homes are heated with electric baseboard heaters or fuel oil furnaces.The electric baseboard heaters would seem to be quite expensive to me, based on electricity costs in places I have lived before while the idea of fuel oil is foreign to me as well since the last time I heard of that method was when I was a kid over 40 years ago.

If you live in the Halifax area and heat an average size home with fuel oil, what are your monthly costs like?Or perhaps I should ask what it costs you for a tank of fuel oil and how many do you go through in a normal winter?

How about pellet stoves?Are they used at all down east and are they a cheaper option?
